The First Step
The Middle Georgia Innovation Project (2021) was the first step in implementing the regional action plan from the Middle Georgia Charrette and Regional Planning Initiative (2018). Both initiatives have been funded by the Department of Defense, Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC). Both initiatives have focused on building innovation in the Middle Georgia region and establish it as a place which will attract new industry, businesses and workforce.
The overall intention has been to develop the Middle Georgia region as a “Software Center of Excellence”.

Methodologies
The Middle Georgia Innovation Project used a range of methodologies including surveys, mapping, focus groups, individual interviews, a Future Summit and in-depth working groups in the areas of Start-Up Innovation, Industry 4.0 Innovation and Software Engineering.
